We go back now. February 9, 2022. A colder world. Smaller microphones. Bigger confidence. This was peak early middle era Insuphishient. Structure? Technically yes. Discipline? Absolutely not.
On this historic evening Matt unveiled what he claimed was a “foolproof” method for predicting summer tour cities using nothing but venue capacity charts and emotional intuition. Nick countered with a 17 minute monologue explaining why every jam in 1998 secretly foreshadowed the modern era. Neither point was proven. Both were defended aggressively.
This was also the episode where Poster Nutbag made an unsanctioned appearance, a bracket was introduced and immediately abandoned, and Matt tried to argue that a random midweek set two opener was “top five all time if you remove context.” Nick nearly walked off. He did not.
Looking back, 2/9/22 feels like a hinge moment. The games were tighter. The takes were hotter. The confidence was unmatched. It was chaotic but pointed. Silly but sharp. The kind of episode that made you feel like you were in on something.
Dust it off. Revisit it.
Classic Insuphishient.
